Position Title: Vaccine Project Organizing Manager

Position Location: Remote in the U.S. 

The Center for Popular Democracy/CPD Action is seeking a temporary Vaccine Project Organizing Manager for a 5 month period.

The Center for Popular Democracy and CPD Action (together, CPD/A) work to promote equity, opportunity, and a dynamic democracy in partnership with innovative base-building organizations, organizing networks and alliances, and progressive unions across the country. We work with nearly 50 affiliates in over 30 states and Puerto Rico to build the strength and capacity of democratic organizations that envision and advance a pro-worker, pro-immigrant, racial and economic justice agenda. We are a rapidly-expanding, changing organization that partners with organizations across the country to build political power and win tangible victories that improve the lives of low-wage workers, immigrants, and communities of color.

About the Position:

The Center for Popular Democracy manages a project with approximately 11 affiliate organizations across the country that have government contracts to engage in outreach to inform their community about COVID and other vaccines and to identify health inequity. This position will be the primary manager of this project, and duties will include overseeing the contract process, working with affiliate organizations on key metrics and reporting, and implementation of key organizing practices. 

We estimate that candidates will have about 10 years of relevant experience, but our review of candidates for this role will focus on whether they can fill the needs of the position, not years of experience.

The Vaccine Project Organizing Manager will report to the Senior Director of Mobilization and Advocacy.

Primary Responsibilities

The Vaccine Project Organizing Manager will:

  • Regularly meet with canvass directors from CPD funded affiliate organizations to ensure that regular outreach is occurring.
  • Manage contract paperwork for affiliate organizations and partners.
  • Schedule, facilitate, and run regular cohort meetings.
  • Lead on implementation of the “organizing flow” to move those contacted into action on healthcare campaigns by CPD’s Base Building and Health Justice Canvass team.
  • Ensure project leads are updated regularly on progress, challenges, including any flags requiring rapid response/intervention, as well as overall program metrics and deliverables. 
  • Support project leads in identifying prospects and developing pitches/proposals for additional vaccine outreach or related benefits and services navigation funding opportunities for both CPD and affiliates.
  • Engage with CPD staff across departments to ensure that the contacts are followed up with and engaged in other issue campaigns.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • At least 1-2 years of experience managing a field canvass;
  • Familiarity with managing contracts and data;
  • Experience managing projects and/or programs;
  • An understanding of CPD’s organizing practices and theories of change;
  • Experience working with grassroots organizations and in diverse communities;
  • Experience working across departments or teams within an organization;
  • A demonstrated commitment to social, racial, and economic justice and a deep understanding of challenges facing low-wage workers, immigrant communities, communities of color, disabled people, LGBTQ+ folks, and people at the intersections of the above communities.

Salary and Benefits:

This is a union position. Salary will be determined according to a salary scale which takes into account years’ experience, location, job category, and other factors, but is expected to be $75,000-$85,000 and category 3. The Collective Bargaining Agreement is available here
